NYX Prismatic Shadows | End of Summer Makeup Tutorial

Long time no blog! August has been crazy busy for me, but I figured I’d try to push out a few more posts before I leave for my semester abroad in France! More about what I’ve been up to and what I’ll be up to in a future post.

These NYX Prismatic Shadows are to die for. I love them even more than I did in July; the pigmentation is beautiful and the formulation is so creamy. The color range is exciting and allows for some more experimentation in your everyday makeup routine. These shadows are honestly comparable to UD’s or Lorac’s, and you can find them at Ulta.

I don’t normally use these colors on the eyes, but the shadows are so suiting for this late summer/early autumn weather. Plus, it adds a fun edge and pop of color without being, like, color.

Monthly Favorites | July 2015

What a terribly clichéd thing to say, but where did July go? Between working and, well, working, I haven’t been paying much attention to the days passing by. I had a really busy month preparing for my upcoming semester abroad, and there is still a lot more for me to look forward to doing. Nevertheless, here are my favorites from the past few weeks!

Peachy Keen | Makeup Tutorial

I love wearing peach, coral, and warm golden tones during the summer. They flatter all skin colors, so you look fresh and bright even if you’re like me and you’re just as pale as you were at Christmas. Summer Sephora Haul

What better way to continue my beauty blogging venture than with the beloved haul from our mecca Sephora. A few weeks ago I dropped a good chunk of my paycheck on a few items I’ve been eyeing and redeemed some of the points I’ve been hoarding for years.

Part of this was purchased in store, and then I made an online order. The online and mobile deals on Sephora are really fantastic. There’s always some sort of promo code you can enter to get a nice sample size of a skincare item, cosmetic, or fragrance. They also include three free samples with every order. It’s kind of dumb, but sometimes I’ll even opt to go to the store, swatch what I like, then go home and order it just so I can get those extra perks.

Highlighting and Contouring and Beauty Blogging, Oh My!

I don’t really blog about beauty or makeup because 1. I don’t want to feel pigeonholed into blogging about just one thing, and makeup is pretty specialized, and 2. I definitely am not a professional, can’t invest too much money in products, and don’t really know what I’m doing. That said, I love pretty much everything that has to do with beauty, makeup, and that whole area of femininity. I follow a variety of beauty bloggers, spend more money than I’ll ever admit on makeup, and know that I do an at least decent job when applying it.

However, there are a lot of things I can’t do with makeup that other people can, which makes blogging about it intimidating. I’m pretty bad at false lashes, over-lining my lips (or maybe it just looks really bad on me), and contouring. But that doesn’t mean I don’t try. Therefore, here we are with my first beauty post on something that I’ve already confessed I am not that good at (????). Continue reading
